Talk Ezy Group NewsNovember 2010
Dear Sherree,

As we get closer to Christmas we are seeing the release of more and more new products. This month we will be featuring a few that we think may interest you.

Microsoft has finally released Windows Phone 7, the successor to the 10 year old Windows Mobile code. HTC and LG will be the first to market in Australia with the LG Optimus 7Q and the HTC 7 Mozart. Both great phones and Windows Phone 7 may just have something different to offer than Android and iOS. The consumer will decide.

Telstra has released it's own tablet this month, the Telstra T-Touch Tab. It is not meant to compete with the iPad but will co exist sitting in the lower price range at $299.00.

The release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is anticipated this month, still no confirmed pricing available. We will keep you updated.

There are also rumours of the release this month of a waterproof, shockproof and dustproof Motorola touchscreen smartphone, that features Google's Android software. Exciting stuff.

Windows Phone 7 here now......

Finally Microsoft have released their replacement of the 10 year old Windows Mobile operating system. Windows Phone 7 looks and feels completely different to the old OS. It is a great improvement in user experience save for a few frustrations, that I am sure they will iron out with some upgrades shortly. There is no copy and paste feature yet. Microsoft promise this will happen shortly. Tethering is also not yet available.

Like the iPhone no user manual is required, you can pick it up and start using it. One point of difference is the lock screen shows all your unread emails, missed calls and calendar appointments. This is something I have missed on the iPhone. You also have access to shared Outlook calendars and the full suite of Microsoft Office. It will also sync all of your photo's and music without cables via wi fi.

All of the phones will feature a search, back and start button which you get used to really quickly. All phones will also have a touchscreen and no expandable memory.

The 2 phones available with Windows Phone 7 at release are the HTC 7 Mozart and the LG Optimus 7Q. They both have some great features that set them apart. The HTC has a slightly smaller but clearer screen and a better camera and the LG has a slide out QWERTY keyboard (suitable for large fingers, or finger nails) and a cool augmented reality app, Scan Search.

Both phones are available outright or on plans. Due to high demand there may be some delay meeting all orders immediately. Please call us on 1300 TALK EZY or email us to register your interest.

Navman Wireless - Real stories from the field

A few customers have shared with us how they have used Navman Wireless to identify issues and improve their bottom line.

Keen golfer practices during work hours

A customer in the construction trade was able to discover how many times one of his foremen had been frequenting the golf club during the week.

Using the Navman Wireless Location Summary Report he identified that the foreman had been working on his handicap instead of the current project.

Keeping warm is a costly affair for the business owner

A customer in the landscaping trade ran the Idle Report after noticing certain vehicles weren't moving but their ignition was on for a very long time!

He discovered the guys were sitting in the cars with the heater running - some for as long as an hour and a half before they got out and worked.

As a result, the customer set up Idle Alerts so Online AVL2 could notify him by phone, text or email if any vehicle idled for more than 10 minutes. He could then address the issue with the employee.

Proof is in the data

A Queensland based trucking company found themselves in hot water after a major road accident that involved one of their trucks.

Speed was seen as a large factor for causing the accident and the matter was taken to court.

The truck driver maintained that he was driving the legal speed limit, so the customer reviewed the truck's activity on the day in question utilising the Activity and Overspeed Report. The manager found that at no time during the day exceeded the speed limit nor did the driver reach the speed he was accused of at the time of the accident.

The reports from Online AVL2 allowed the court to exonerate the driver.

Also available for iPhone or iPad. See at a glance where your field staff are in real time, what speed they are travelling at, how long they have been on the road or at a site for, which direction they are heading in and how near to the next job they are.

More tablet devices.......What do you get for $299

As I said last month tablet devices are very popular with manufactures at the moment. All are racing to market with their competition for the iPad.

Telstra T-Touch Tab
T-Touch Tab

This month sees the release of at least 2. First is Telstra's offering, the Telstra T-Touch Tab for $299 on pre-paid. Available NOW. It has a 7" resistive touchscreen and runs on Google's Android software. It has front and rear facing camera's, space for a memory card and can be completely customised. It's competitive pricing makes it ideal for families who want to try the tablet market but don't want to spend between $629 to $1049 for the iPad or $999 for the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

There is still no confirmed release date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It is reported to be available for $999 Outright but pricing will be confirmed on release. It has also been reported to be available on plans which again will be confirmed on release. The Samsung Galaxy Tab will have front and rear facing cameras, Googles Android operating system, a 7" capacitive touch screen and will ship with GPS turn-by-turn navigation. It also has the ability to make calls but think you would want to use a bluetooth headset for fear of looking rediculous. All I can suggest is if you would like one you should register your interest now as most new release handsets have been difficult to get of late.

Old Phones, More Ducks campaign

From the 1st November to 31st January Mobile Muster is running a campaign in partnership with Oxfam where for every 2 handsets collected for recycling, they will give a duck to a family living in poverty in Mozambique.

The ducks will make a huge difference to families by producing eggs they can eat as well as sell at markets to generate income. This is a great initiative where we can all help people less fortunate than us by simply recycling our old mobile phones.

All mobile phones, mobile batteries and accessories are recyclable. It is estimated that there are up to 3 old mobile handsets per household in Australia. That is a massive amount of recyclable product just lying around.

So if you upgrade your phone over Christmas, recycle the old one and make it count. You can drop it into us at Unit 2, 8 Miller Street MURARRIE or clik on the link for a Free Post reply paid mailing label.
